As the mother of an Air Force Technical Sargent who has volunteered ten years of his life in service to the Air Force, I would just like to ask that if you are reading this you take time to ponder the service of each and every one of the men and women serving in the all voluntary forces of our military today. If you personally know one, please take a minute to thank them for their service. It is much more than fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan. They are providing aid to Myanmar, aiding relief efforts in the earthquake zones, helping to keep the peace in Europe, Asia, Africa and on every continent on this Earth of ours. They strive to build relationships, solve problems, promote peace and understanding, represent what America can be at her best and yes, at times, at her worst. But they never give up. If I may quote a commentary written on the Air Force link by Major Michael Johnson, 455th Expeditionary Civil Engineer squadron commander~ “Throughout our nation’s history, achievements have been made by regular men and women who’ve achieved great things through hard work and perserverance. Thomas Edison tried more than one thousand five hundred materials before finding the right one for the light bulb. Things may seem hard, almost impossible, to get accomplish[ed] but stick with it. You’ll be glad in the long run knowing you gave it your best. Nothing more can be asked for than your best.”
So, For giving us your best, Here’s to all of you whether you be Air Force, Navy, Army, Marine, Coast Guard, National Guard, or Reserve. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU SAFE.
